Zarif deu a declaração nesse domingo (26) no Iraque, durante durante entrevista com o chanceler iraquiano Mohamed Alhakim.
Zarif disse que o Irã vai se defender contra qualquer iniciativa bélica, seja de natureza econômica ou militar.
O governo do presidente americano Donald Trump enviou ao Oriente Médio um grupo de combate, incluindo um porta-aviões, e aumentou suas sanções econômicas contra o Irã.
Zarif informou que o Irã propôs a assinatura, com seus vizinhos do Golfo Pérsico, de um pacto de não agressão. O chanceler iraniano reafirmou que Teerã deseja construir relações equilibradas com as nações da região.
